My aunt is turning 100 and we want to throw her a big birthday party. She has lived most of her life in NYC and that is where the party is going to be. I was so disappointed coming back to this place in Santa Cruz. I guess owners had changed in the last year but from the last time I was here, few months ago, I never expected the drastic change in food. We ordered a combination sushi, price is $17.95 for dinner plus other rolls and the portions are so small. You would not believe how small. You pay a good price and it was unbelievable how small the portions are. I understand that this is a sushi restaurant, but how do you think that I can even get full from this? If there were more sushi Scotts Valley Restaurants then I would go somewhere else, but there isn’t so I’m stuck with this restaurant.
The waitress was great though. I told her how small their serving was and she said that if the guys who prepares the sushi knows you, they are generous. What is up with that? It’s because they don’t know that I have been a repeat customer, they will give me that ridiculous serving…Think twice when you decide to eat at this Santa Cruz restaurant. I will discourage you unless you know the guys and they will give you generous portions.
I don’t know if I would ever go back to this restaurant. Too bad as the 1st time this opened (late 90’s I think), we’ve been one of the first customers. It’s so unfortunate that all most of the recent reviews were great. I don’t know what happened at my dinner here. There was no one at the restaurant except for a couple and us.
